August 31, 2014 Cowlitz Bay Seine
Seine participants: Russel (honcho), Madrona (fish wrangler and note taker), Ash (Kwiaht conservation technician), Danika (Kwiaht conservation technician), Laurie and a family that Laurie recruited.
We set twice, but only counted the first set. This set was pulled from mid beach and didn't go out as far as normal since there were boats in the way on nearly every side.
4 Sculpin, great
1 Sculpin, cabazon
19 Sculpin, staghorn
32 Perch, striped
5 Perch, shiner
3 Greenling, white-spotted
18 Tubesnout (13 of which were juveniles)
1 Pipefish, Bay (male, but without eggs)
2 Gunnel, saddleback (I think there were more, but those are the ones counted)
13 Herring
2 Chinook (unmarked/wild)
2 Crab, kelp
2 Crab, red rock
6 Crab, helmet
154 Shrimp (mostly small coonstripe)
Other notes--we were watched by a murre, there were lingcod eggs in the net and on the second set, along with two rocks, we pulled in a sea lemon (Monterey dorid) and its eggs, which it had laid on a piece of sea lettuce (which isn't where they normally lay!).
