Brett and Jill did the plankton tow at TNC: 14:50: Calm, hot day, heavy current. 1 1/2” Moon Jelly. Dolphin, possibly a pacific white-sided.

Stan W, Mail Bay, 11:45: cloudy.

August 15, 2008

Bill C, Stan W 9:45 Mail Bay: Sunny with haze, light breeze. Megalopes.

Fred & Donna A: 13:45, North Bay: overcast, warm and muggy. Six crows on beach, 5 gulls on water, 3 Pigeon Guillemots. Two seals at Fishery Point, 4 Pigeon Guillemots, 1 Bald Eagle.

14:00 Severson Bay: 1 Cormorant, 4 Pigeon Guillemots.

Julie L: Saw the first flying termites today. Thistles are beginning to set seed. At 17:00 in Presidents’ Channel, 1 Harbor Porpoise. At Cowlitz Dock, the swallows were very noisy. 

Laurie G: In the middle of the night, lots of orcas passed by her beach from east to west.

Julie L: Sunny and fresh. In bloom in the garden: Cucumber, tomato, Rose of Sharon, hollyhock, calendula, nasturtium, pansy, Mexican sunflower, petunia.

Winnie A: The Tibb’s to Fishery Point walks were about the same as July (A few Pigeon Guillemots, Great Blue Herons, gulls, Bald Eagles.) A void. Demoralizing.
