Don H: Kayaked from Mail Bay (south) to Cowlitz Bay and from Mail Bay (north) to Fishery Point, several times. Observed in the area along the sand cliffs north of the farm on College Beach and south of little Point Hammond, schools of silver fish in a band along the shore, from ten to thirty feet out, in a flooding tide. There were many fish and the schools extended the length of the sandy cliffs but not beyond in either direction. I did not observe any similar schools in any of the other areas I paddled.

Below are images taken after the samples were sorted by type by our intrepid plankton counting team. Images by Glen Riley. Depicted: Calanoids, crab megalopes, tubesnouts, euphausids, diptera fly.

Don H: Nine otter now inhabit the north point of our property which we named Otter Point (bright eh!). In the clan of nine I observed two young pups and seven larger adults.
Observed a nightfall appearance of many winged termites, gold color, by the thousands. Disappeared as suddenly as they appeared; one night only.
